Adriano Moraes vs Yuya Wakamatsu Rematch for Vacant ONE Title in Japan

Adriano Moraes and Yuya Wakamatsu will compete for the vacant flyweight title at ONE Championship 172 in Saitama, Japan, with a kickboxing main event featuring Takeru Segawa and Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

Adriano Moraes and Yuya Wakamatsu are gearing up for a rematch to determine the new flyweight champion at ONE Championship 172. This thrilling event is set for March 23 at the iconic Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Headlining the night, a five-round kickboxing clash between Takeru Segawa and Rodtang Jitmuangnon promises fireworks. It’s gonna be epic!

Moraes (21-5) was on top of the world when he defeated Wakamatsu in March 2022, securing victory with a third-round submission. That was his last title defense before losing twice to Demetrious Johnson, who has since hung up his gloves.

Meanwhile, Wakamatsu (18-6) has clawed his way back into title contention. Since 2023, he’s been on a tear, knocking out Wei Xie and picking up decision wins over Danny Kingad and Gilbert Nakatani.

“ONE Championship will head to Japan for the fourth time,” shared ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong in a release. “I’m thrilled to bring one of the most significant kickboxing matches ever to Saitama Super Arena.”

“Takeru is a kickboxing legend, admired for his exceptional skill and fighting spirit. Rodtang is a striking sensation and among the greatest muay Thai fighters ever. I can’t wait to witness this spectacular bout in ONE Championship.”

Additionally, former flyweight MMA king Adriano Moraes will battle Japan’s own Yuya Wakamatsu for the vacant ONE flyweight MMA world title. Who will succeed Demetrious Johnson as the division’s undisputed king? Exciting times ahead!

It’s shaping up to be another historic evening in Japan. A heartfelt thanks to U-NEXT for their unwavering support.
