Alan Belcher’s debut at Misfits Boxing match against Chase DeMoor, who stepped in for injured Hasim Rahman Jr., was chaotic, featuring a bout marred by issues such as DeMoor’s defensive strategy, allegations of illegal punches, and disruption from DeMoor’s corner, culminating in Belcher winning by TKO.
The debut of Alan Belcher at Misfits Boxing on Saturday night ended quite chaotically. Belcher was scheduled to face Hasim Rahman Jr. in a thrilling boxing match at Misfits Boxing 8. However, Rahman had to withdraw due to an injury. To save the event, Chase DeMoor, a former Too Hot to Handle star and influencer, accepted to step in within 24-hours. But, this last-minute alteration resulted in quite a debacle.
Throughout the fight, DeMoor adopted a defensive approach, using his long reach to keep Belcher at bay. He employed the tactics of stiff-arming Belcher whenever he advanced and opting to clinch whenever Belcher got past his lead arm. This strategy aimed at survival throughout the three-round exhibition visibly agitated Belcher, the former BKFC heavyweight champion. The situation intensified before the final round when DeMoor’s coaches advised him to prioritize survival, implying that he should ignore the referee’s instructions to break from clinches.
Belcher, visibly frustrated, took an aggressive approach in the final round. His attacks managed to corner DeMoor against the ropes and unleash powerful blows. At this moment, DeMoor turned towards his corner, leading to an intervention by the referee, Anthony Bryant. DeMoor’s cornerman claimed foul play citing illegal punches at the back of the head. This led to a heated argument between Bryant and DeMoor’s corner, even while the fight continued. They then tried to restart the bout, but once again, DeMoor’s corner gave him water, a clear breach of rules as the fight wasn’t over.
Moving forward, unable to halt DeMoor and his corner’s actions, Bryant allowed the irregularities to unfold and then restarted the bout. Belcher launched into an attack, and DeMoor did his best to safeguard himself. Nevertheless, he once again turned his back to Belcher. Seeing this, Bryant decided to stop the bout, declaring Belcher the winner by TKO and thus, bringing an end to the chaotic event. After the fight, Belcher and Rahman Jr. had a brief confrontation in the ring, discussing their prospective future match once Rahman recovers from his injury.
