Victor Hugo will now fight Pedro Falcao, who is stepping in on three days’ notice, at UFC Vegas 90 after Alatengheili was forced to withdraw for undisclosed reasons.
Victor Hugo’s got a fresh face to square off against at UFC Vegas 90. And guess what? It’s a fellow newbie to the promotion and a Contender Series vet.
The inside scoop? Several folks in the know have spilled the beans to MMA Fighting. Hugo’s now set to go toe-to-toe with Pedro Falcao. Falcao’s stepping up to the plate on a mere three days’ notice. This showdown’s happening at Saturday’s card at the UFC APEX. MMA Mania was the first to break the news.
But wait, there’s more. Falcao’s stepping in for Alatengheili. Why, you ask? Well, Alatengheili had to bow out of the match for reasons we’re not privy to. This juicy tidbit was confirmed to MMA Fighting by a source close to the situation. MMA Junkie was the first to report this.
Let’s talk about Falcao. His record? 16-3. He threw down on the Contender Series back in October 2021. He scored a third-round TKO against James Barnes. But, no UFC contract. The 31-year-old made a comeback to the MMA scene a tad over two years later. He snagged a submission win at Tuff-N-Uff 134 in November.
Now, onto Hugo. This is his first dance in the octagon. He bagged a contract on the Contender Series in October with a kneebar submission win. He goes by “Striker”. He was all set to compete at November’s UFC Sao Paulo event. But, he missed weight by 2.5 pounds. So, the bout got canned.
And the cherry on top? UFC Vegas 90’s main event is a rematch. We’re talking Brendan Allen versus Chris Curtis. Get ready, folks!
