Alex Pereira is open to a potential boxing match against Oleksandr Usyk, expressing interest in the fight as both organizations show willingness to collaborate, following Usyk’s comments about wanting a “show fight” with Pereira.
Alex Pereira’s got a wild idea: a colossal boxing match against Oleksandr Usyk. He thinks the UFC might just go for it. Imagine that!
“Poatan,” as he’s known, is gearing up to defend his UFC light heavyweight belt against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 on March 8. But he’s got his eyes set on something bigger after hearing Usyk’s interest in a “show fight.”
“I’ve said that before, that I would really like to do a boxing match,” Pereira shared in Portuguese with Mark Bouris during a chat in Sydney. Who would he face? Well, only a champ, of course! And Usyk’s the champ who dropped his name.
Both fighters seem game, and with the UFC and boxing world playing nice lately, this dream bout could become reality. Fingers crossed!
Pereira’s not new to big moments—he rocketed through the UFC ranks, snagging two belts with seven knockouts in nine fights. Next up, he’ll defend his title after some epic wins over Khalil Rountree, Jiri Prochazka, and Jamahal Hill in 2024.
As for Usyk, he’s an undefeated beast with a 23-0 record, including 14 knockouts. In 2024, he made waves by defeating Tyson Fury twice! His resume also boasts victories over Daniel Dubois, Anthony Joshua, and Derek Chisora.
Could this be the clash of titans we’ve all been waiting for? Time will tell!
