Alexander Volkanovski’s Top 5 Greatest Fighters Ever

Alexander Volkanovski does not consider himself one of the top five greatest fighters in MMA history, instead naming Demetrious Johnson, Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, and his teammate Israel Adesanya as his picks.

Alexander Volkanovski doesn’t see himself as one of the top five fighters ever. The debate over the Greatest of All Time in MMA is always buzzing. Volkanovski’s name started popping up in these discussions after an impressive featherweight title run. But, he’s lost three of his last four fights. Two of those losses were at lightweight against Islam Makhachev, so fans are rethinking his place.

Is it the recent losses? Or maybe he’s just too humble? Either way, “The Great” doesn’t think he belongs in the Top-5 all-time.

On his YouTube channel, while answering fan questions, Volkanovski said, “Top 5 fighters of all time. Damn.” He mentioned Demetrious Johnson and Jon Jones. Despite Jones’ controversies outside the octagon, Volkanovski acknowledged his long reign as champ. “You can’t deny his skill,” he added.

He continued, naming Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva. Finally, he included Israel Adesanya, calling him the greatest striker the UFC has seen. Adesanya’s a teammate from City Kickboxing, so no shocker there.

Yet, it’s surprising Volkanovski didn’t list himself. Many see him as the greatest featherweight champ ever. With five successful title defenses, only Jose Aldo ranks higher.
