Amanda Ribas and Mackenzie Dern will headline UFC Vegas 101 on January 11, 2025, in a rematch after their initial bout at UFC Tampa in 2019.
Amanda Ribas and Mackenzie Dern are set to headline the first UFC event of 2025. Yep, it’s happening!
On Wednesday, MMA Fighting confirmed some big news. The much-anticipated strawweight rematch between Ribas and Dern, originally planned for UFC Tampa, has been yanked from that card. Instead, it will now serve as the main event for UFC Vegas 101 on January 11. Alex Behunin was the first to break this juicy tidbit.
Ribas and Dern have a bit of history. They last clashed at a UFC Tampa event back in October 2019. Ribas took the win with a unanimous decision, marking Dern’s first loss in her professional career. Since then, Ribas (13-5) has chalked up a 5-4 record in the promotion, hopping between strawweight and flyweight divisions. Most recently? She fought at 125 pounds but lost to Rose Namajunas at UFC Vegas 89.
As for Dern (14-5), she’s done slightly better, boasting a 7-4 record—all at strawweight. Her latest victory was a unanimous decision over Loopy Godinez at UFC Abu Dhabi in August.
