Anderson Silva expressed pride and admiration for his friends Alex Pereira and Khalil Rountree after their fight at UFC 307, praising their performances and acknowledging the challenges of competing at a high level.
Anderson Silva couldn’t contain his pride after UFC 307. His “friend” Alex Pereira and “little brother” Khalil Rountree made him beam with admiration.
“The Spider” found himself unexpectedly linked to the light heavyweight title bout. Remember that 2015 clip? Silva predicted that Rountree, just 2-0 back then, would be a middleweight champ someday. Fast forward, and there he was in Salt Lake City, fighting as a light heavyweight against another of Silva’s former training partners, “Poatan.” Spoiler alert: the Brazilian clinched victory with a fourth-round knockout.
Silva, who dominated the UFC middleweight division for years, had Pereira by his side for his iconic clash with Israel Adesanya. Post-fight, he took to social media to shower praise on both fighters after their electrifying “Fight of the Night” in Utah.
“I could say countless things about this incredible battle between these two giants,” Silva mused. He wished for a world where his brother and friend didn’t have to fight. But hey, that’s the sport’s nature. Alex was flawless, riding an incredible high. Hats off to you, my friend.
For Khalil, Silva’s words were filled with warmth and pride. “I’m so proud of you, my brother,” he wrote. Those familiar with Khalil’s journey know he’s a true giant. Despite the outcome, he emerged victorious by proving that high-level fighting isn’t for everyone. Kudos to both warriors! May blessings rain upon you both.
And a special note for Khalil: only a few brave souls like us dare to fight the good fight. Strength and honor now and forever!
