Silva, a UFC Hall of Famer and former middleweight champion, faces his longtime rival Sonnen in a five-round exhibition boxing match on June 15. They previously clashed in two iconic UFC bouts. Silva defended his title with a fifth-round submission at UFC 117 in 2010. He then knocked out Sonnen in the second round at UFC 148 in 2012. Silva vs. Sonnen 1 will be inducted into the Fight Wing of the UFC Hall of Fame during International Fight Week ahead of UFC 303.
Silva, now 49, holds a 3-2 record as a pro boxer. He has victories over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz since leaving MMA in 2021. His most recent bout was a decision loss to Jake Paul.
Sonnen, 47, is making his boxing debut.
