Anthony Smith clarified that there is no ongoing feud with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, attributing their recent misunderstanding to miscommunication and emphasizing his longstanding admiration for Jackson.
Anthony Smith’s got no beef with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson anymore. Recently, things got heated after Smith critiqued how Rampage and his podcast co-host, Bear Degidio, talked about fighters on their show, JAXXON.
On Smith’s podcast, On Paper, he mentioned Rampage and T.J. Dillashaw making jokes about fighters who haven’t snagged UFC titles, himself included. This didn’t sit well with Rampage.
In a fiery response, Rampage warned he’d "smack the fck out of" Smith next time they crossed paths. Yikes! But Smith cleared things up during an interview with Submission Radio*.
“I love Rampage even though he said he’s going to slap the shit out of me,” Smith chuckled. He was genuinely surprised by Rampage’s reaction. “I thought I gave Dillashaw a pretty good compliment,” he mused.
Smith reached out to Rampage via DM to smooth things over. Apparently, there was a big misunderstanding. Smith assumed Rampage was mad about the Bryce Mitchell stuff, but it turns out that wasn’t the case at all.
He was shocked because he went out of his way to be careful with his words about Rampage. “Some of that’s just because I respect him,” Smith explained.
The podcast format can sometimes blur nuances, leading to misunderstandings. What seems like a harmless comment to one might be a major insult to another.
Smith clarified that he never meant to imply Rampage brings people on his podcast just to make fun of them. It’s just the nature of long-form discussions; sometimes things get lost in translation.
Despite the JAXXON podcast teasing a mock graphic for a Smith vs. Rampage showdown, Smith insists the beef is squashed. “I never want any heat with Rampage,” he emphasized.
Rampage has always been his favorite fighter since his teenage years. Meeting him was everything Smith hoped for—hilarious and genuine. A classic case of misunderstanding between two pros who’ve now patched things up.
