UFC 311’s headliner changed as Arman Tsarukyan was pulled from his lightweight championship rematch with Islam Makhachev due to a back injury, and Makhachev will now face Renato Moicano in the main event.
UFC 311 just hit a snag. One of its headliners is out.
During Friday’s weigh-ins, Dana White dropped a bombshell on Instagram. Arman Tsarukyan won’t be facing Islam Makhachev. Why? A back injury. Bummer.
Tsarukyan was itching for revenge against Makhachev. Their first clash in 2019 didn’t go his way. Since then, he’s been climbing the lightweight ladder. He even snagged a win over Charles Oliveira at UFC 300. But now, his championship dreams are on hold.
In a twist, Makhachev will face Renato Moicano instead. Moicano was originally set to fight Beneil Dariush on the main card. Thanks to Tsarukyan’s injury, he gets a shot at UFC gold this Saturday.
Life’s unpredictable, isn’t it?
