Arnold Allen’s Uncertain UFC London Comeback: H & Injury & Reset After Recent Loss

Arnold Allen is dealing with a potentially broken left hand that may prevent him from competing in a UFC event in London.

Arnold Allen will likely miss out on another UFC event in London. Following a knockout win over Dan Hooker in his native country back in March 2022, Allen was unable to appear on either of the last two cards in England due to injuries and unfortunate timing. After suffering a hard-fought decision loss to Max Holloway at the UFC Kansas City event, Allen is now dealing with a potentially broken left hand. Although he’s still waiting for a diagnosis, even if he receives positive news from his doctors, it’s doubtful he’ll be able to make a quick turnaround and compete again in July when the UFC returns to London.

While discussing the injury on The MMA Hour, Allen stated, “I got an x-ray on my hand but I haven’t had the results yet. I know it hurts. I’ve [hurt] both of them but the left one’s been [worse]. It don’t feel good. I’m taking a lot of painkillers since the fight. It doesn’t feel great. Yeah [it does feel broken]. Yeah, it does. But we’ll see. I might just sign a contract and see if I can fight in boxing gloves for an hour.” According to Allen, the injury occurred early in his fight with Holloway when a punch connected but he immediately realized something was wrong. He continued fighting through the pain, but the hand has been causing him discomfort since the event ended.

Allen doubts that he’d want to get back into another training camp for a fight in July, even if he receives good news about his hand. He would love to compete at home again but admits to pushing through some lingering injuries in his past couple of fights, and he’d like to take the time to heal fully before booking his return to action. Allen is also coming off his first loss in the UFC career, so he wants to ensure he’s truly ready for his next fight to avoid any negative consequences inside the cage.

Reflecting on his journey, Allen said, “I’d like to go into camp being 100 percent, especially this next one if it’s one to get back to the top, to prove I belong there. I don’t want to be half-assing around and rushing things.”
