Bellator champions Patchy Mix and Corey Anderson are frustrated with the lack of fight opportunities since PFL took over, as Mix’s scheduled fights have been canceled or postponed, leaving both fighters uncertain about their return to action.
A couple of Bellator champs are getting pretty annoyed. It’s been a while since they’ve had any action, ever since PFL took over in 2023.
Patchy Mix and Corey Anderson? Yeah, they’re both feeling the heat. Delays, delays, and more delays. No clue when they’ll step back into the cage.
Mix was all set to defend his title against Leandro Higo in Paris this November. Guess what? The whole event got axed in October. Ouch.
Now, there’s a Bellator card slated for January in Dubai. Usman Nurmagomedov is headlining, defending his lightweight title against Paul Hughes. Mix thought he’d be on that card too. Surprise! He’s not.
“I’ve been training my ass off for the last half of year for nothing,” Mix vented on Twitter. “This is frustrating in the prime of my career.”
“And now I’m off the January Dubai card? I am the best in the world and I want to fight to prove it.”
Mix last fought in May, snagging a split decision over Magomed Magomedov. His next bout? Who knows when?
Corey Anderson’s in the same boat. He hasn’t fought since March when he nabbed a unanimous win over Karl Moore to claim the light heavyweight belt.
Rumor had it he might fight at a Bellator London card in September. Didn’t happen.
“Aging like warm cheese over here waiting for PFL to give me a call,” Anderson tweeted. “But don’t get it twisted… we still ready to defend the strap against anybody!”
After the Paris card got canned, PFL said it was just “postponed.” Fighters would be rescheduled later.
That includes Mix, but with his patience wearing thin, who knows when he’ll actually return?
