BKFC Ice Wars Launching in June with Legal Hockey Fights

BKFC is expanding its combat sports offerings by launching BKFC Ice Wars, a new league that features regulated hockey fights on ice, with events scheduled to begin in June and plans for further expansion in 2025 and 2026.

BKFC has been instrumental in bringing bare-knuckle fighting into the mainstream. Now, they’re aiming to revolutionize hockey fights with the introduction of BKFC Ice Wars. Intriguing, right?

On Wednesday, the promotion revealed its investment in a new league. This league, founded by BKFC executive Charlie Nama, will see fighters from around the globe face off on ice. Yes, you read that correctly—on ice!

BKFC Ice Wars plans to host “legal, sanctioned, and regulated hockey fights” in a unique venue dubbed “The Ice Box.” This isn’t your typical rink; it’s a 900-square-foot ice enclosure built specifically for these icy showdowns.

David Feldman, BKFC’s president and founder, expressed his excitement: “We’ve been watching what the team at Ice Wars has been building. The audience’s passionate response has been incredible.” He continued, “Their vision aligns perfectly with ours—delivering raw combat sports like never before.”

Partnering with Ice Wars was a no-brainer for Feldman. Together, they’re ready to elevate this concept to new heights. The anticipation is palpable!

Mark your calendars! The inaugural BKFC Ice Wars event is set for June 14 at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. But wait—there’s more! A second card will follow on June 28 at River Cree Casino & Resort in Enoch, Alberta.

Looking ahead, BKFC Ice Wars plans to launch at least six events in 2025. By 2026? They aim to expand to as many as 24 events. Ambitious? Absolutely.

And yes, there are rules! Each fight will have three to five rounds, each lasting up to 90 seconds with one-minute breaks between rounds. Two referees will oversee the action—one leading as the sole arbiter.

Three judges will score bouts if they go the distance. Scoring focuses on effective striking first and foremost. If needed, effective aggressiveness and control of the fighting area come into play.

Weight classes? They’ve got those too: Heavyweight (over 200 lbs.), Cruiserweight (175-200 lbs.), Middleweight (150-175 lbs.), and Lightweight (under 150 lbs.).

Fighters will don four-ounce MMA gloves and traditional hockey jerseys. It’s an intriguing mix of combat sport meets classic hockey brawl.

Stay tuned! BKFC officials promise more details on the first Ice Wars card soon. Exciting times ahead!
