Brandon Moreno Receives Custom Fight Shorts for UFC Edmonton

Brandon Moreno, no longer a UFC champion and on a two-fight losing streak, is set to fight Amir Albazi in the main event of UFC Edmonton, wearing custom shorts featuring the Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl, while Albazi remains undefeated in his UFC career.

Brandon Moreno might not hold the UFC championship belt anymore, but he’s still basking in the limelight. This Saturday, he’ll face Amir Albazi in the main event of UFC Edmonton. And guess what? He’s got some brand new, custom fight shorts for the occasion.

These shorts are quite the spectacle—black and red with green lettering. They even feature images of Quetzalcoatl, a feathered serpent deity from Aztec culture. Take a peek at them below, along with Moreno’s enthusiastic reaction.

“Let’s go!” Moreno exclaimed. “For those who don’t know, Quetzalcoatl is the Aztec god of light, wisdom, and fertility too. [Laughs]. I have three daughters. We know what that means…”

“This is so cool,” he added. “I carry this in my heart. It’s beautiful, to be honest.”

Despite being a two-time flyweight champion, Moreno is currently on a two-fight losing streak. His most recent loss was a split decision against Brandon Royval at UFC Mexico City back in January.

Albazi, on the other hand, remains undefeated in his UFC run and ranks No. 6 in the MMA Fighting global flyweight rankings. Initially set to face Moreno at UFC Mexico City, a neck injury sidelined him. He last fought in June 2023, clinching a split decision over Kai Kara-France at UFC Vegas 74.

UFC Edmonton unfolds this Saturday at Rogers Arena. The event also boasts a five-round co-main event featuring Erin Blanchfield squaring off against Rose Namajunas.
