The UFC’s return to Edmonton on November 2 will feature a new main event between Brandon Moreno and Amir Albazi, with the previously scheduled headliner between Rose Namajunas and Erin Blanchfield moving to the co-main event.
UFC’s back in Edmonton with a new main event! Former flyweight champ Brandon Moreno faces Amir Albazi in a five-round clash on Nov. 2 at Rogers Place.
UFC CEO Dana White dropped the news on social media Tuesday. The previously announced headliner, Rose Namajunas vs. Erin Blanchfield, now moves to the co-main event but stays a five-rounder.
This fight marks Moreno’s return after two split decision losses to Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Royval. He had planned a hiatus but decided to come back sooner.
On the other hand, Albazi last fought in June 2023, narrowly defeating Kai Kara-France. He was supposed to fight Moreno in February but had to recover from a neck injury.
Now fully recovered, Albazi aims to beat Moreno and secure a title shot against Pantoja. High stakes for both fighters!
The UFC Edmonton card also features heavyweight action: Derrick Lewis vs. Jhonata Diniz and Alexandr Romanov vs. Rodrigo Nascimento.
