Brandon Moreno is set to fight Steve Erceg in the main event of UFC Mexico City on March 29, following an official announcement during UFC 312.
Brandon Moreno is gearing up for a showdown with another flyweight contender. The fight’s set for Mexico City this March.
During the UFC 312 broadcast on Saturday, it was announced: Moreno (22-8-2) will face Steve Erceg (12-3). Mark your calendars for March 29 at UFC Mexico City in Arena CDMX. KrazyKevMMA first broke the news.
Moreno holds the No. 4 spot at 125 pounds in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings. Meanwhile, Erceg is ranked No. 12.
As a two-time UFC flyweight champ, Moreno recently snapped a two-fight losing streak. He secured a unanimous decision win over Amir Albazi last November. Before that, he narrowly missed becoming a three-time champ, losing a split decision to Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 290 in July 2023. Then came another split decision loss to Brandon Royval in February.
Erceg has also tasted defeat by decision against Pantoja. Now, he’s eyeing a comeback to contention. After starting his UFC career with a solid 3-0, Erceg faced setbacks: a loss to Pantoja followed by a first-round TKO by Kai Kara-France this past August.
