Brendan Schaub responded to Nate Diaz‘s criticism with a heated rant on his podcast, dismissing Diaz’s comments as internet gossip and asserting his own physical prowess while challenging Diaz to confront him directly.
Brendan Schaub didn’t hold back when he responded to Nate Diaz’s jab. Last week, on his podcast, Schaub opened up about his friend Shane Carwin’s struggles, both financial and physical, following Carwin’s open letter as part of the UFC antitrust lawsuit. Schaub was visibly emotional during this segment, shedding light on the situation. Hours later, Diaz took a personal shot at Schaub.
This week on The Schaub Show, the former UFC heavyweight turned comedian and podcaster had his say. "This is just internet gossip," Schaub remarked. He speculated that Diaz might be trying to stay relevant after not getting paid for the Masvidal fight and losing to Jake Paul. "I retired 15 years ago," Schaub continued, emphasizing that social media isn’t reality. "I will f*ck you up," he declared confidently.
Diaz, meanwhile, is searching for his next fight after defeating Jorge Masvidal in a boxing match earlier this year. He’s also filed a lawsuit against Fanmio, alleging he’s owed $9 million from the event. Despite respecting Diaz as a fighter, Schaub insisted it wouldn’t matter in their scenario.
"He’s had some great fights, tough dude," Schaub admitted but quickly dismissed it with a "I don’t give a f*ck." At 245 pounds and a trained black belt, Schaub emphasized his credentials as a former top-10 UFC heavyweight. "I’m not out of shape," he asserted.
Schaub went on to criticize Diaz’s need to prove himself online. "I don’t have to get on Twitter and blast it out," he explained. The difference between them? Loyalty and support for friends like Shane Carwin, even amid personal issues.
"That’s what men do," Schaub stated firmly, contrasting it with what he sees as Diaz’s fake persona. He accused Diaz of being no different than Colby Covington with his antics—just another facade. Tough guys don’t tweet insults while someone’s dealing with serious issues.
Having retired in 2014 after a TKO loss to Travis Browne at UFC 181, Schaub still feels the fighter within him. If Diaz wants a fight, he’s ready. "What are you going to do Nate?" Schaub challenged. He questioned Diaz’s ability to out-grapple or out-punch him in any scenario.
"If you fancy yourself [some] fisticuffs," Schaub taunted, inviting Diaz to confront him one-on-one without backup. He painted an almost comical image: dropping his kid off at practice, handling business with Diaz, then picking up his kid unscathed—with a Diet Coke in hand.
Naturally, Diaz caught wind of Schaub’s fiery comments and took to Twitter with a retort of his own using one of Schaub’s infamous quotes. "I think you’d be surprised," Diaz wrote back.
And so the saga continues…
