Brian Kelleher Withdraws, Marcus McGhee vs Journey Newson Confirmed at UFC Vegas 72 Event

Brian Kelleher has withdrawn from UFC Vegas 72, with Marcus McGhee stepping in to face Journey Newson in a 140-pound catchweight bout.

The UFC Vegas 72 card has experienced another change, as Brian Kelleher had to withdraw from his bantamweight matchup with Journey Newson. In response to this development, LFA veteran Marcus McGhee has been chosen to face Newson on Saturday’s preliminary card. The bout will be held at a 140-pound catchweight, as reported by Eurosport.

UFC Vegas 72, scheduled for Saturday at UFC APEX, will showcase 11 fights. Earlier this week, the card faced reductions due to several bouts being canceled because of injuries and illness. The event’s main attraction will be a bantamweight fight between Song Yadong and Ricky Simon.

Marcus McGhee enters his UFC debut with a 6-1 record, established on the regional circuit. In his most recent match, he secured a second-round knockout against Luciano Ramos at LFA 149, and currently enjoys two consecutive victories. On the other hand, Journey Newson aims to bounce back from a recent loss in UFC Vegas 66, where he faced a decision loss to Sergey Morozov. Newson’s overall record stands at 10-4, with a 1-3 record (and 1 no-contest) in the octagon.
