Bryce Mitchell is determined to settle his genuine feud with Jean Silva at UFC 314, fueled by Silva’s callout and Mitchell’s controversial comments, with both fighters engaging in trash talk and Mitchell claiming spiritual attacks in the lead-up to their fight.
Bryce Mitchell wants everyone to know there’s nothing fake about his beef with Jean Silva at UFC 314.
After a recent win in Seattle, Silva called out Mitchell. The matchmakers granted his wish, setting up their featherweight clash this Saturday in Miami. Silva’s motivated—not just for rankings but to knock Mitchell down a peg after some controversial comments.
Silva has been ramping up the trash talk, mocking Mitchell’s outrageous beliefs. He told MMA Fighting that he expects their feud to be settled on fight night.
Mitchell isn’t so sure.
“He says he loves Jesus but calls himself ‘Lord’—that ain’t right,” Mitchell said at media day. “He doesn’t treat me with respect. Based on my interactions, he doesn’t have Jesus in his heart because he treats me like total crap.”
“Jesus has two commandments: Love God and love your neighbor. Does he treat me as he treats himself?”
Asked again if he’s convinced Silva’s got it in for him, Mitchell was blunt.
“I think his feelings are very ill, and it’s not going to be fun when he’s having his face smashed in,” Mitchell said.
One of Mitchell’s more bizarre claims is blaming Silva for nightmares since their matchup was announced.
He clarified he doesn’t actually blame Silva. Yet, he vividly detailed his supposed ordeal.
“I don’t think Jean has anything to do with my dreams,” Mitchell stated. “Not witchcraft or anything. But Satan’s put a spell over me—I’m fighting demons all night. Then I wake up and dream of temptations.”
“That’s when I knew it was a spiritual attack. I went to church for prayer, and the dreams receded.”
Mitchell’s coming off a third-round knockout of Kron Gracie last December—a much-needed win after being knocked out by Josh Emmett. He’s ready to hand Silva his first loss; the Brazilian power-puncher has finished his first four UFC opponents.
Despite all the drama, Mitchell guarantees he’s prepared.
“I’m fully focused,” he said, later adding, “I’m gonna personally whoop his ass.”
