Carlos Prates Knocks Out Neil Mangy in UFC Vegas 100 Main Event

Carlos Prates secured a highlight reel knockout victory against UFC veteran Neil Magny at UFC Vegas 100, marking his fourth consecutive knockout win in the UFC in 2024 and expressing aspirations for future high-profile matches.

Carlos Prates added another highlight to his knockout collection, taking down UFC veteran Neil Magny. In his first main event at UFC Vegas 100, Prates faced early takedown attempts but delivered a crushing left hook. This sent Magny crashing face-first onto the canvas, with the referee stopping the fight at 4:50 in the first round.

This victory marks Prates’ fourth win in the UFC, all in 2024, and each by knockout. “Feeling awesome,” Prates said afterward. “This year has been the best of my life and career. It’s a lot of hard work. I can’t explain how happy I am right now.”

Prates demonstrated patience against a seasoned fighter like Magny before setting up his devastating finish. When the fight began, Magny quickly sought a takedown, but Prates resisted and even reversed as they hit the floor. Instead of lingering on the ground, Prates stood back up, eager to keep the fight standing.

Magny tried to close the distance again for grappling, but Prates shrugged him off. Then came a lightning-quick right hand from the Brazilian that floored Magny. With Magny wobbling, Prates charged forward, aiming to end it before round two.

Magny tried to survive by grabbing a leg but found himself trapped against the cage. Prates measured his shots and unloaded just as Magny attempted to duck away. The left hook landed perfectly, leaving Magny unconscious as the referee waved off the fight.

Prates’ impressive performance has earned him a growing reputation despite only four UFC fights. He’s eyeing another big matchup and has some ideas about what’s next. “To be honest, I think fighting in Australia would be perfect because my daughter is there,” he revealed.

He expressed interest in facing Jack Della Maddalena or Geoff Neal next. “All respect to these guys,” Prates added. “I don’t know if it’s too far off due to rankings and such, but both would be amazing fights.”
