Cedric Doumbé Signs Extension with PFL, Will Face Derek Anderson at Bellator Paris

Former kickboxing champion Cedric Doumbe has signed a multi-fight, multi-year extension with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) and will face veteran competitor Derek Anderson at the upcoming Bellator Paris card.

Cedric Doumbe ain’t going anywhere. He’s sticking with the PFL, folks.

This French superstar, a former kickboxing champ, just signed a multi-fight, multi-year extension. He’s only had two fights with the PFL, but he’s clearly made an impression.

And guess what? Doumbe’s next fight is already on the books. He’s squaring off against Derek Anderson, a seasoned fighter, at the upcoming Bellator Paris card. The event’s happening on May 17 at the Accor Arena.

For those of you in the U.S., you can catch the action live on Max.

The PFL announced Doumbe’s new deal and his upcoming fight on Monday.

PFL CEO Peter Murray couldn’t hide his excitement. He said, “Re-signing Cedric Doumbe to a multi-year contract extension has been one of our highest priorities since he joined the promotion last year. Cedric is a large part of our continued growth in France, and now he will compete at Bellator Champions Series Paris on a fight card that can be streamed by fans in the U.S. on Max, as he continues his trajectory through our global leagues.”

Doumbe, a former GLORY welterweight champion, decided to go full-time with MMA after dabbling in the sport starting back in 2021. His PFL debut? A stunning nine-second knockout last September. Talk about making an entrance!

But his second appearance didn’t go as smoothly. Doumbe lost a fight to Baissangour Chamsoudinov after a toe injury in the third round forced the referee to stop the contest.

Instead of rebooking that fight, PFL officials decided to switch things up. They’ve paired Doumbe with Anderson, who holds a 17-4 record with one no contest in his career. Anderson’s been with Bellator for an eight-year run, but he hasn’t fought in nearly three years after losing to Michael “Venom” Page back in 2021.

Now, Anderson’s got a shot at Doumbe at the upcoming Bellator Paris card on May 17. The main event? Bantamweight champion Patchy Mix defending his belt against Magomed Magomedov. Should be a good one!
