Chael Sonnen Doubts Conor McGregor vs Logan Paul Fight

Conor McGregor‘s rumored boxing match against Logan Paul in India, allegedly funded by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, is widely dismissed as false by UFC Hall of Famer Chael Sonnen, who believes the story lacks credibility and substance.

Conor McGregor is at it again, stirring the pot with rumors of a boxing match against Logan Paul in India. But not everyone is buying into this hype. One UFC Hall of Famer, in particular, remains skeptical.

After addressing his potential return to the UFC, McGregor dropped a bombshell. He claimed negotiations were underway for a fight with Paul, funded by Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest person. The buzz suggested a $250 million payday for McGregor. Yet, Chael Sonnen isn’t convinced.

“He says he’ll get $250 million to box Logan Paul in India,” Sonnen shared on his YouTube channel. “It’s all about attracting tourism, supposedly.”

But hold on a minute! Sonnen argues there’s no way Conor’s stepping into the ring with Logan. He insists no Indian billionaire is looking to boost tourism through such antics. That’s typically a government gig—just look at Saudi Arabia.

Sonnen points out how Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in boxing to draw global attention. Turki Alalshikh has spent millions bringing major fights to the Middle East.

Sure, Ambani is a sports enthusiast; he owns the Mumbai Indians cricket team and founded the India Super League. But Sonnen doubts he’s splurging to bring McGregor and Paul to India just for kicks.

“Billionaires who spend like that crave recognition,” Sonnen explains. “If you’re wealthy but unknown, it eats at you. Fame without fortune? Even worse.”

He adds, if anyone were handing out $250 million checks, they’d want their name front and center—not lurking in the shadows as “rich India dude.”

Contractual obligations complicate things further. While Paul has more leeway outside WWE, McGregor remains tightly bound by UFC’s terms.

Sonnen shuts down any dreams of this fantasy fight happening in 2025. “There’s no truth,” he asserts. “No new boxing league in India, no Conor versus Paul, no $250 million deal.”

In short? It’s all smoke and mirrors—another wild tale spun by McGregor.
