Charles Oliveira on Max Holloway’s 155 Move & Chandler Rematch at UFC 309

Charles Oliveira is focused on his rematch with Michael Chandler at UFC 309 to solidify his legacy and potentially reclaim the lightweight title, while also considering future bouts with Max Holloway as he aims to improve upon past performances.

Charles Oliveira is laser-focused on UFC 309. He aims to build a legacy that will echo through generations.

This Saturday, Oliveira faces Michael Chandler in a rematch. It’s the co-main event at Madison Square Garden, New York. “Du Bronx” sees this fight as a stepping stone for the lightweight title.

Oliveira also has his eyes on Max Holloway. The BMF champ is moving up to lightweight after a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 308. Another rematch might be on the horizon.

“I’m about legacy,” Oliveira shared with MMA Fighting. Imagine being the BMF champ—huge for his career!

Their first encounter was brief—an injury handed Holloway a TKO win just 1:39 into the fight. A different story with Chandler: in May 2021, they clashed for the vacant lightweight title. After a rocky start, Oliveira secured his first UFC title at UFC 262.

Chandler was slated to face Conor McGregor at UFC 303. But McGregor withdrew due to injury.

When Chandler was proposed as an opponent, Oliveira wasn’t fazed. He’s ready for anyone the UFC throws his way.

“Listen, I’m ready, happy, very motivated,” Oliveira said. Just waiting for fight night.

He relishes every opportunity and trusts the UFC’s decisions. Confident in victory, he believes he’s next in line for the title.

Oliveira is eager to return to winning ways after losing to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300. Tsarukyan might challenge Islam Makhachev next, but Oliveira aims to reclaim his throne if he defeats Chandler.

Reflecting on his first bout with Chandler brings fond memories. He hopes for an even better performance at The World’s Most Famous Arena.

“The spirit of that first fight is with me,” Oliveira explained. His goal? Push forward and ensure victory.

Training is relentless; improvement is key. No matter past performances, Oliveira strives to be better each time. Victory on Saturday is all that matters!
