China’s Yan Xiaonan earned a $50,000 performance bonus for her stoppage of Jessica Andrade at UFC 288.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 288 left four fighters with an extra $50,000 in their pockets. UFC President Dana White announced the bonuses during the press conference held after the event took place in New Jersey. Performance incentives were awarded to Movsar Evloev, Diego Lopes, Yan Xiaonan, and Matt Frevola.
Movsar Evloev and Diego Lopes won the Fight of the Night award for their featherweight match. During the opening round, Lopes threatened with submissions, but Evloev managed to escape them all. In the second and third rounds, Evloev kept his distance from Lopes and outstruck him on his way to a unanimous decision win.
The Performance of the Night award was scooped up by Matt Frevola after he stopped Dew Dober in the headline fight on the preliminary card. Frevola connected with a counter right hand that knocked Dober down and finished the fight with a series of unanswered left hands.
Women’s strawweight Yan Xiaonan won the second Performance of the Night award after her impressive first-round stoppage of former champion Jessica Andrade. Andrade went on the offense after being hit with jabs and right hands but was stopped in her tracks by a powerful right hand from Xiaonan that sent her crashing to the canvas. With the impressive win, Xiaonan is set to crack the Top 5 rankings when they are released.
The UFC 288 bonuses rewarded fighters for their top performance in the event. Fans will be excited to see who will earn the next bonuses in the upcoming UFC matches. Such incentives keep fighters inspired to deliver their best performances and help elevate the high-level competition in the UFC world.
