Chito Vera Responds to Cory Sandhagen’s Critique of His Loss to Sean O’Malley

Marlon Vera criticized Cory Sandhagen for his negative comments about Vera’s performance in his UFC 299 loss to Sean O’Malley.

Marlon Vera, he’s got a bone to pick with Cory Sandhagen. Why, you ask? Well, it’s all about Sandhagen’s critique of Vera’s UFC 299 defeat to Sean O’Malley.

Vera, he was gunning for the UFC bantamweight title, his first shot at it. But he fell short. And Sandhagen? He didn’t hold back. He said Vera had “no business being in the cage with O’Malley.” Ouch.

Now, Vera, he’s not one to take things lying down. He had a few choice words for Sandhagen. Basically, he told Sandhagen to stick to his day job.

Vera’s reaction to Sandhagen’s comments? “It didn’t bother me,” he said on The MMA Hour. But then he added, “Dude, I just fought. Dude, it didn’t go my way, and you make your whole f****** douchebag YouTube videos? I mean, dude, stick to fighting.”

And then he went on. “You’re not a f****** influencer. You look like a f****** idiot, but I get it. … Everybody wants to do the [podcasts], and now we see … they become like school teachers now.”

Vera, he’s not just mad at Sandhagen. He’s lumping him in with Henry Cejudo, another bantamweight. Cejudo also does fight breakdowns and storylines on his YouTube channel. And guess what? Sandhagen beat Vera in a split decision at UFC San Antonio in March 2023.

So, what’s next for Vera after his loss to O’Malley? He’s open to any fight the UFC throws his way. But he’s got his sights set on Madison Square Garden. The UFC’s annual trip there is in November, and Vera hopes to make a comeback then.
