Chris Curtis has withdrawn from his UFC 307 fight against Kevin Holland due to a fractured foot and a Lisfranc injury, which will keep him sidelined until late 2024 or early 2025.
Chris Curtis won’t be fighting Kevin Holland at UFC 307 in October. He announced late Wednesday that an injury will keep him out until late 2024 or early 2025.
“I’m fine, guys. Bit of a fracture in my left foot,” Curtis tweeted. “Caught Caio Borralho on the knee, at the very end of the last round of sparring.”
But there’s more. Curtis also mentioned a Lisfranc injury, which means he shouldn’t even be walking without crutches for the next four to five weeks. “Which sucks,” he added, “but had it been any worse, it would have possibly been surgical.”
“So count your blessings there,” Curtis continued. “Hopefully, I’ll be OK for December. If not, I’ll see you all next year. Thanks for all the comments and concerns.”
It’s been a rollercoaster year for Curtis. He kicked off 2024 with a win over Marc-Andre Barriault but then lost a close decision to Brendan Allen in April. That fight was on short notice, by the way.
Curtis also dealt with a hamstring injury earlier this year, sidelining him for months before booking the match against Holland.
Now, he’s facing another setback with this fractured foot. The Lisfranc injury, according to OrthInfo, happens when bones in the midfoot are broken or ligaments that support the midfoot are torn.
The severity can vary based on the damage done. Curtis seems hopeful his injuries won’t keep him out too long but confirmed he won’t be fighting in October.
Sources told MMA Fighting that no replacement opponent has been secured for Holland yet. A search is expected to keep Holland on the card set for Oct. 5 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
