Chris Eubank Jr. Fined $129K for Egg Incident with Conor Benn

Chris Eubank Jr. was fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control for slapping Conor Benn with an egg during a press conference, a gesture linked to Benn’s previous positive drug test allegedly caused by consuming contaminated eggs.

Chris Eubank Jr. found himself in hot water after a playful yet costly encounter with Conor Benn. At their recent press conference, Eubank decided to spice things up by slapping Benn with an egg during their face-off. It certainly made headlines.

But not all attention is good attention. The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) wasn’t amused and slapped Eubank with a hefty fine—£100,000, to be exact. Ouch.

The BBBoC issued a statement saying that Eubank breached Regulation 25 (misconduct) at the Manchester press event for their April 2025 bout. They didn’t mince words about the penalty.

Interestingly, both Eubank and Benn are legacy fighters, carrying on a rivalry that dates back to their fathers’ iconic clashes in the early ’90s. Talk about history repeating itself!

Their initial matchup was supposed to happen in 2022 but got derailed when Benn tested positive for Clomiphene, a banned substance linked to testosterone enhancement. Drama, right?

Benn later cleared his name, citing excessive egg consumption as the culprit behind his positive test results. Naturally, Eubank seized this “egg-cuse” to make his point at the presser.

“I think throwing an egg was justified,” Eubank said, defending his actions. “He needed that little dose of embarrassment.”

No regrets here; Eubank even mentioned he’d do it again if given the chance. Bold move! Their much-anticipated showdown is now set for April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Mark your calendars!
