Chris Weidman will return to the octagon to fight Eryk Anders at UFC 309 on November 16 at Madison Square Garden after recovering from a leg injury and earning a technical decision in his last match.
Chris Weidman is set to step into the octagon again before year’s end.
Sources close to the promotion confirmed to MMA Fighting that Weidman will clash with Eryk Anders at UFC 309 on Nov. 16. This confirmation follows an announcement by Anders’ management team on Twitter.
The event is likely to be held at Madison Square Garden in New York. However, the UFC hasn’t officially confirmed the venue yet.
Weidman, who suffered a severe leg injury in his UFC 261 bout against Uriah Hall in April 2021, has been out for over two years. Since then, he’s gone 1-1 in his two fights. His last match saw him secure a technical decision over Bruno Silva at UFC Atlantic City in March.
At 40, Weidman is gearing up for his 20th walk to the octagon.
Eryk Anders also comes into this fight off a March win, having beaten Jamie Pickett at UFC Vegas 87 via unanimous decision. Anders has alternated between wins and losses in his last four bouts, including a stoppage victory over Kyle Daukaus in December 2022.
