CM Punk laughed off Seth Rollins’ callout for an MMA fight in the UFC, reminding him that their upcoming triple threat match at WrestleMania 41 is where their real confrontation will take place.
CM Punk couldn’t help but chuckle when he heard Seth Rollins call him out for an MMA fight in the UFC. This challenge came just before their triple threat match at WrestleMania 41 on Saturday.
Rollins, who lacks any formal martial arts background, admitted he’d train in MMA just to settle his beef with Punk in the cage. He promised a full training camp, despite his inexperience.
“That might be the only one I do,” Rollins confessed. “But Dana [White], you want to make some money, book it, brother.” Bold words from a man without an MMA history!
The tension between these WWE superstars is no secret. Yet, if Rollins really wants a fight, Punk says he won’t have to wait long—just until their upcoming match in Las Vegas.
“Look, I’m going to punch this motherfcker in the face on Saturday,” Punk declared on The Ringer Wrestling Show*. “He’s talking about wanting to do an MMA fight. All right, I’ll see you Saturday kid. Welcome to hell.”
Punk’s UFC journey began back in 2014 after leaving WWE. His debut saw a submission loss to Mickey Gall and later a decision loss to Mike Jackson, which was overturned due to a positive marijuana test.
Despite his MMA setbacks, Punk remains a passionate fan of the sport. During the same interview, he empathized with Diego Lopes‘ emotions following his loss to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 314.
And while he’s focused on wrestling now, Punk keeps ties with his old training partners like UFC welterweight champ Belal Muhammad. Who knows? Maybe he’ll return to the octagon someday.
“I really appreciate my time in MMA,” Punk reflected. “I love that people underestimate me because of it. It’s fantastic.”
As for now, Punk will clash with Rollins and Roman Reigns in a triple threat match headlining WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas this weekend. It’s gonna be wild!
