Cody Garbrandt vs Mario Bautista: Potential UFC Matchup in the Works

Bantamweights Cody Garbrandt and Mario Bautista are set to clash at an upcoming UFC event, with the location yet to be determined.

Bantamweights Cody Garbrandt and Mario Bautista are set to face off in an upcoming UFC event on August 19, with the location for the card yet to be determined. This news was confirmed by multiple sources on Friday. Garbrandt is looking to regain momentum after getting back on track with a win in his last fight, while Bautista is riding a four-fight win streak of his own.

Garbrandt, who previously held the UFC bantamweight title, overcame a challenging 1-5 run in six fights by earning a unanimous decision over Trevin Jones at UFC 285 in March. This marked a much-needed victory for him after suffering three consecutive losses in the division, including two back-to-back defeats against former teammate T.J. Dillashaw. With this, Garbrandt now aims to build momentum in the wake of his win over Jones.

On the other hand, Bautista has been experiencing his own success, with three out of his four most recent victories ending in submission finishes. In March, he defeated Guido Cannetti via a first-round rear naked choke. The Garbrandt vs. Bautista fight is the first to be confirmed for the August 19 date, as the UFC continues filling out its ambitious summer schedule.
