Colby Covington insults Khamzat Chimaev, calling him an unprofessional bum, and blaming him for ruining the UFC’s business after missing weight for his last fight.
Colby Covington is back in the headlines, this time for his insulting comments towards UFC welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev. In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Covington called Chimaev an “unprofessional bum” and accused him of running away from the division because he’s afraid to face Covington.
Chimaev, who is currently ranked third in the division, has an undefeated record of 12-0. However, he badly missed weight for his last fight, prompting a last-minute shuffle of the main card. Despite this setback, Chimaev plans to move up to the middleweight division and make a run at the title.
Covington, who is known for his trash talk and insults towards his opponents, had no problem voicing his opinions on Chimaev’s recent performance. He questioned Chimaev’s hype as a great fighter, saying that all the guys he beat are on the regional circuit now, and accused him of ruining the UFC’s business by missing weight by 9 pounds.
He also criticized Chimaev’s professionalism and disrespect towards the big bosses of the UFC. He claimed that Chimaev’s behavior is not cool and suggested that Chimaev is not going to be in any big fights because of it.
Covington’s insults towards Chimaev may not come as a surprise to those who are familiar with his antics. However, it remains to be seen whether Chimaev will respond to Covington’s comments or let his actions in the octagon speak for themselves.
