Colby Covington made a memorable entrance at UFC Tampa, accompanied by WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan and his iconic theme song, following their friendship during the 2024 presidential campaign.
Colby Covington, a real American hero? At least at UFC Tampa.
The ever-vocal welterweight shook things up on Saturday night. He strutted to the octagon with WWE legend Hulk Hogan and his famous theme song blaring. Quite the spectacle!
Covington’s week was full of surprises. First, Chael Sonnen joined him for a promo at Friday’s weigh-ins. Then, Hogan took the stage as his sidekick before Saturday’s showdown.
Covington and Hogan go way back—to the 2024 presidential campaign. They were regulars at Trump rallies, with Hogan even speaking at the Republican National Convention. Dana White was there too!
Before the fight, UFC commentator Brendan Fitzgerald hinted at something big. During an event preview with MMA Fighting, he teased fans:
he said. “That’s all I’m going to say. It’s going to be a moment, going to be fun.”
And Fitzgerald was right! Covington’s walkout—his last of 2024—was unforgettable, thanks to Hogan by his side.
Using “Real American” by Rick Derringer made waves, but Covington wasn’t the first. Tom Lawlor did it back in 2012 at UFC on Fuel TV 3. Déjà vu?
