Commission Rejects Ihor Potieria’s UFC 301 Appeal

Michel Pereira‘s first-round submission victory over Ihor Potieria was upheld by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission despite Potieria’s appeal citing an illegal kick, leaving Pereira on an eight-fight winning streak and Potieria with a cancelled match and a 2-4 UFC record.

Michel Pereira’s first-round submission victory over Ihor Potieria stands. The Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) denied Potieria’s appeal, MMA Fighting has confirmed.

The Ukrainian middleweight filed a complaint in mid-May. He claimed Pereira hit him with “an illegal kick” during a backflip, landing on his head while on the ground.

Seconds later, Pereira locked up a guillotine choke. Potieria tapped out during the main card portion of UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro on May 4.

CABMMA reviewed the appeal but decided to keep the result as a win for Pereira.

Pereira is now riding an eight-fight winning streak under the UFC banner. Three of those wins came after moving up to middleweight.

He’s currently waiting for the promotion to set his next match. Exciting times ahead for Pereira!

Potieria, on the other hand, faced some setbacks. His previously-booked UFC Saudi Arabia clash with Shara Magomedov was canceled following the defeat.

Now, Potieria holds an octagon record of 2-4. Tough break for him.
