Conor McGregor Bets $500K on Nate Diaz to Beat Jorge Masvidal

Conor McGregor has placed a $500,000 bet on Nate Diaz to outbox Jorge Masvidal, potentially winning $1,625,000 if Diaz, an underdog, prevails in their boxing match.

Conor McGregor is banking on Nate Diaz outboxing Jorge Masvidal.

“The Notorious” took to Twitter shortly before Saturday’s boxing event at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., headlined by MMA stars Diaz and Masvidal. He boasted that he is laying $500,000 down on his longtime rival to defeat Masvidal. Given Diaz’s underdog status (currently +210 on DraftKings Sportsbook), McGregor claims he will cash out with $1,625,000 should his bet land.

In his comment, McGregor didn’t have kind words for either fighter. But he particularly ruled out Masvidal’s chances of seeing his hand raised.

“I’ve decided to put $500,000 on Diaz to win tonight’s boxing match,” McGregor wrote. “Range, form, experience, solely hands being used. I can’t see Masvidal causing any problems to Nate in a boxing ring whatsoever.”

“They are both little play-around dipshits in a fight,” he added. “Play-around bollox, but I feel Nate does him in EASY here for real. $500k gets me back $1,625,000 all in.”

Masvidal and Diaz previously fought at UFC 244 in November 2019. On that date, Masvidal opened a nasty cut over Diaz’s right eye and went on to win by doctor stoppage at the end of Round 3 to become the inaugural “BMF” champion.

McGregor has his own history with Diaz. The two previously competed in massive pay-per-view bouts at UFC 196 and UFC 202. In their first meeting, Diaz submitted McGregor; however, McGregor earned a measure of revenge with a majority decision win in the rematch.

So there you have it—McGregor’s big bet and bold predictions!
