Conor McGregor expressed interest in a boxing match with Logan Paul, claiming UFC’s refusal to allow the bout, despite his ongoing negotiations and potential financial gain, while continuing to explore opportunities in influencer boxing and bare-knuckle fighting amid his inactivity due to injuries and legal issues.
Conor McGregor has expressed a desire to face Logan Paul in the boxing ring. But, according to him, the UFC isn’t on board with the idea.
In a chat with The Schmo, McGregor revealed plans for an exhibition bout with Paul, rumored to happen in Mumbai, were halted. Why? Because the UFC didn’t allow him to sign the contract. A potential $250 million payday was mentioned, but India’s billionaire Ambani family, supposedly involved in negotiations, never publicly commented.
UFC CEO Dana White dismissed the idea, supporting McGregor’s claim that it was out of his hands—if there was even a decision to be made at all.
“The UFC just aren’t into it,” McGregor stated. “The offer was there—both athletes under the TKO banner. UFC and WWE rising. TKO Holding Group’s stock soaring. India’s market booming. It made business sense for this glorified sparring match during my octagon hiatus. But the UFC wasn’t interested.”
Logan Paul stayed silent. “I told him he needed to speak up,” McGregor said. “He put out a video making it seem like I sent him a voice note. I was addressing the Ambani family, not him.”
Since his leg injury against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, McGregor hasn’t competed. He planned a comeback against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 but withdrew due to a toe injury. Legal troubles have also been an issue—a civil case for sexual assault in Dublin and another ongoing suit in Miami.
Despite inactivity, McGregor continues to propose fights on social media, even outside the UFC roster. With influencer boxing on the rise, he sees an opportunity for a return to the ring. Remember his 2017 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather? Despite losing, both fighters earned nine-figure paychecks.
“I’m more inclined now towards this influencer scene because of the astronomical money,” McGregor admitted. “Jake, Logan, KSI—these guys are interesting.”
Currently in Philadelphia, McGregor is fulfilling duties as part-owner of BKFC and promoting KnuckleMania 5. He’s hinted at fighting bare-knuckle one day—perhaps as a surprise.
“One day you’ll hear my music at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship,” McGregor teased. “No promo, just me with wrapped fists ready for a random fight.”
