Conor McGregor discusses UFC 300, return delay, & Dustin Poirier feud

Conor McGregor hints at a possible return to UFC competition in 2024, with a rumored opponent being Michael Chandler and a desire to settle the unfinished business with Dustin Poirier.

Conor McGregor is setting his sights on making an impact in 2024, with his coach John Kavanagh stating that a return to the octagon may not happen before summer. Despite McGregor resuming drug testing, there is uncertainty surrounding his comeback date, with speculation that he might aim to get back in time for UFC 300 in April. McGregor has been out of action since breaking his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, but based on the date of his first test since returning to the USADA pool, he should be eligible to compete by April 8. McGregor hinted at a possible fight date on Twitter, expressing confidence that a fight booking will be set at some point.

Amidst rumors of his comeback, it is speculated that McGregor’s leading candidate for his return fight is Michael Chandler, a longtime rival and opposing coach in The Ultimate Fighter 31. McGregor was noncommittal about whether he will fight Chandler, but mentioned that he considers him “a good guy.” When asked about the possibility of a rematch against Poirier, McGregor was much more emphatic, stating that he considers the rivalry to be “unfinished.”

McGregor remains focused on getting back into the octagon, expressing his enthusiasm for coaching and participating in martial arts. He also acknowledged his past performances in UFC fights and expressed pride in his accomplishments. McGregor is determined to make a significant impact upon his return to the sport.
