Corey Anderson Brushes Off Jamahal Hill’s Verbal Jabs: Questions His Championship Credentials

MMA fighter Corey Anderson defended Bellator’s light heavyweight division against the UFC’s top, leading to a heated conversation with Jamahal Hill on Twitter, wherein Anderson dismissed Hill’s criticisms of his performances and credentials in the league.

It is well known that Corey Anderson is unafraid to give his honest opinion, even if that may ruffle some feathers. This was evident when he compared Bellator’s light heavyweight division with the UFC’s top 205-pounders, an act that incited a passionate exchange on Twitter with Jamahal Hill. The banter escalated as Hill scrutinized Anderson’s previous fights, particularly his performance in the Bellator league.

Hill subsequently released a video on YouTube in which he replied to Anderson, who found humor in the situation and assured there wasn’t any rivalry between the two of them. Addressing Hill in an interview, Anderson dismissed his claims and stated that he isn’t relevant since he did not fight notable UFC competitors such as Magomed Ankalaev and Jiri Prochazka. He also voiced his belief that Hill only won the belt from a retired fighter, whose abilities he thought had waned considerably.

In that fiery exchange on Twitter, Hill reminded Anderson of previous losses he had incurred, including a memorable 2017 knockout defeat to Ovince Saint Preux. However, Anderson did not deny those setbacks and instead attributed these losses to the level of competition he chose to face. In spite of these losses, Anderson showed great confidence in comparing his career performance to Hill’s, regardless of results. He strongly believes that when it comes to reputable victories, his record is far more impressive.

Anderson quickly perceived the futility of an argument with Hill, especially after Hill pointed out the one loss on the UFC champion’s record, which was a TKO inflicted by Paul Craig. However, Anderson dismissed the notion that this was due to injury, explaining that Craig had in fact submitted him. Despite his criticism, Anderson is focusing on his ambitions to be considered the best in his division while fighting in Bellator and is undeterred by objection he has received from some within the UFC sphere, including Hill. He expressed his disregard for Hill’s statements, comfortable in the fact their paths are unlikely to cross due to them competing in different leagues.
