Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov are set to fight at a UFC Fight Night event in Abu Dhabi on August 3, after their original 2023 match was postponed due to Nurmagomedov’s shoulder injury.
Hey, guess what? Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov are finally gonna face off. It’s happening at a UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi, Aug. 3. Exciting, right?
This bantamweight matchup, we’ve been waiting for it, right? It was supposed to happen back in 2023, but Nurmagomedov’s shoulder had other plans. Sandhagen, though, he didn’t waste time. He won a one-sided decision over Rob Font. Now, they’re set to meet in a five-round main event. Yep, UFC’s back in Abu Dhabi this August.
UFC officials, they spilled the beans early Monday morning. It’s official now.
Sandhagen? He’s on a roll, three wins in a row. He’s always there, near the top of the 135-pound division. He’s got his eyes on the prize, the championship. His win over Font last August, that’s not all. He’s also got wins over Marlon “Chito” Vera and Song Yadong. Impressive, huh?
And Nurmagomedov, he’s the talk of the town. Being Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s cousin, he had a lot of hype. And boy, he’s lived up to it. A perfect 5-0 record in the octagon. Not bad for a 28-year-old Russian, eh?
His latest win? He took out newcomer Bekzat Almakhan in March. His record now? A flawless 17-0.
But Sandhagen, he’s gonna be Nurmagomedov’s toughest challenge yet. It’s the main event for UFC’s return to Abu Dhabi. Can’t wait for August!
