Dan Hooker had a fun sparring session in New Zealand, easily overpowering popular streamer IShowSpeed, who challenged him to a boxing match despite setting rules and even bringing in a partner to assist.
Dan Hooker had a blast sparring with IShowSpeed in New Zealand. The popular streamer recently toured the country and couldn’t resist visiting Hooker’s gym. Upon arrival, Speed challenged the UFC lightweight contender to a friendly bout. Spoiler alert: it didn’t end well for Speed.
The encounter was streamed live on Speed’s YouTube channel. Before they began, Speed laid down some ground rules—no kicks or submissions allowed. But wait, there’s more! Just moments into the face-off, he requested a switch from MMA gloves to larger boxing gloves.
Did any of that help? Not really. Hooker, with 22 UFC fights under his belt, dominated the session. He landed punches from every angle, dropping Speed multiple times. Even when Speed brought in a partner for backup, Hooker prevailed in a surprising 2-on-1 scenario.
After the sparring session, Hooker gave props to Speed, saying he had “balls of steel.” It’s all part of the game for Speed, though. Besides being a top YouTuber, he’s known for challenging athletes at their own sports. Recently, he even gave Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles a run for his money in a 50-meter dash.
And so, the saga continues.
