Kayla Harrison’s move from the PFL to the UFC prompted a social media post from the PFL highlighting her only career loss, which UFC CEO Dana White dismissed as a desperate attempt by the financially struggling PFL to compete with the UFC.
Kayla Harrison, after 17 fights with the PFL, jumped ship to the UFC. On Saturday, a social media post popped up, highlighting her only career loss.
Just before she bested Ketlen Vieira at UFC 307, the PFL shared a clip. It showcased her decision loss to Larissa Pacheco in 2022, while also plugging their upcoming Saudi Arabia event on Oct. 19. Interestingly, UFC CEO Dana White missed the post but wasn’t shocked by the move.
"I think when you’re losing as much money as they are, fcking go for it," White quipped at the UFC 307 press conference. "Fcking throw the kitchen sink at it."
White is known for his blunt takes on the PFL, especially when they challenge the UFC. He recently reacted to a comment from PFL co-founder Donn Davis about their spending on a PPV headlined by Francis Ngannou.
Davis claimed they’d spend more than what UFC shelled out for UFC 306 at Sphere in Las Vegas. White had previously detailed how costs soared over $20 million for that event.
"This guy [Donn Davis] just came out recently and said ‘you know we’re going to spend more money than they did on the Sphere.’ That sounds f*cking brilliant," White remarked. "How many tickets are you going to sell? They’re not very bright."
The UFC stands tall as MMA’s top dog, but White couldn’t resist pointing out rivals’ financial woes. So, he wasn’t too surprised by PFL’s jab at Harrison—a former star now with UFC.
"Listen, it’s all fair," White said. "They’re drowning. They suck. They’re not good at what they do. I guess you would just keep trying anything you can to make something stick. All good."
