Dana White Urges Weidman, Smith, Guida to Retire After UFC 310

Dana White believes that Chris Weidman, Anthony Smith, and Clay Guida should retire after all three suffered losses at UFC 310, with Smith hinting at retirement while Weidman and Guida have not yet addressed the possibility.

Dana White’s seen enough. Chris Weidman, Anthony Smith, and Clay Guida? Time to hang up the gloves, he thinks.

Saturday night at UFC 310 wasn’t kind to these veterans. Smith hinted it might be his last fight, but Weidman and Guida? Not a peep about retirement. White’s never been one to push fighters out, but he hopes they choose to step away after such tough losses.

“They all retire tonight,” White said. Plain and simple. That’s his wish for Weidman, Smith, and Guida.

White’s voiced similar thoughts about Weidman before, especially post-leg injury—remember that gruesome break? Out for over two years!

Weidman’s comeback had a controversial win—thanks to eye pokes against Bruno Silva—but Saturday was different. Eryk Anders knocked him out in the second round. Despite an early knockdown by Weidman, Anders’ relentless attack ended it.

With this loss, Weidman’s now 1-3 in his last four fights.

Smith? He fought Dominick Reyes while grieving a close friend’s death. Tough night. Couldn’t mount any offense and fell to strikes in round two.

In the octagon, Smith took off his gloves but stopped short of saying it’s over. Still, feels like he’s leaning towards retirement.

“Probably my last fight,” Smith said. “It’s been a long road.” He’s thinking it over, but yeah, probably.

Guida faced Chase Hooper in the prelims and lost via armbar submission. Three losses in a row now; he’s 1-4 in his last five bouts.

Guida always said he’d fight ’til the wheels fall off. But with White’s comments on retirement, will he reconsider? Keep fighting or call it quits while still under UFC’s banner?
