Darren Till Aims for Fast KO of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Plans to End Influencer Boxing

Darren Till is set to make his professional boxing debut on the undercard of the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul event, facing former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., with plans to fight Jake Paul afterwards.

Darren Till is gearing up for a big leap in his boxing career. He’s got some serious plans.

News broke on Wednesday. Till is set to make his professional boxing debut. And guess what? It’s on the undercard of the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul event.

This event is scheduled for July 20. The venue? AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. Till’s opponent? None other than the former WBC middleweight champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Till spilled the beans on The MMA Hour. He admitted that everything fell into place unexpectedly. But, it was an opportunity he simply couldn’t resist.

“The fight is one of the biggest of our generation,” Till stated. He’s talking about the main event, of course. Jake Paul, a massive star in the boxing world, versus Mike Tyson, one of the best fighters ever. It’s a colossal fight. Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson – doesn’t get any bigger than that.

Till was approached with the fight, the name, the promotion, the venue. He saw the exposure this event could bring. And as a fighter, he knew he couldn’t turn down such an opportunity.

Chavez Jr. has 61 professional boxing bouts to his name. But he’s been a bit quiet lately. His most recent victory was a unanimous decision over David Zegarra in 2021. He’s no stranger to fights of this nature, though. Remember when he fought Anderson Silva in 2021? He lost a split decision to the MMA legend.

But Till? He’s confident. He believes he can deliver an even better performance than “The Spider” did.

“I’m going to knock him flat out in two rounds,” Till declared. He’s not interested in what Chavez Jr. is doing. He’s focused on his goal – to knock him out in two rounds.

And after that? Till has plans to fight Jake Paul. If Paul’s not available, he’ll take on Mike Perry. Or anyone else. Dillon Danis has expressed interest in fighting him. Till’s response? “Let’s go Dillon.”

Till’s last fight was at UFC 282. He was submitted by Dricus du Plessis in the third round. After that loss, “The Gorilla” was released from UFC to pursue other interests.

There were rumors about him heading to BKFC to fight Mike Perry. But Till had other plans. He’s charted a different course for his career, which he says starts in July.

“Now we begin. Now the journey starts,” Till said. He’s determined to end influencer boxing. And he plans to start by knocking out Julio Cesar Chavez.

Till warns that Chavez Jr. should be careful. He’s just the first to fall.

“I’m not going to disrespect a man who is a formidable opponent,” Till said. He acknowledges that Chavez Jr. is an ex-world champion. His dad’s a living legend. But Till’s not coming to make up the numbers in July. He’s coming to put on a show.
