David Benavidez, with an impressive record of 28-0 and 24 KOs, is a two-time WBC super middleweight champion. He currently holds the WBC super middleweight interim title. The undefeated 27-year-old claimed the interim belt by knocking out David Lemieux in 2022. He then defended it successfully against Caleb Plant and Demetrius Andrade in 2023. Now, he steps back into the light heavyweight division to face Gvozdyk.
Oleksandr Gvozdyk, boasting a record of 20-1 with 16 KOs, is a former Ukrainian champion. He held the WBC and lineal light heavyweight titles from 2018 to 2019. After losing his title to Artur Beterbiev, Gvozdyk took a four-year hiatus from boxing. He made a triumphant return in 2023, securing victories over Josue Obando, Ricards Bolotniks, and Isaac Rodrigues.
