Two-time UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo will face Manel Kape in a fight at UFC 290.
Deiveson Figueiredo’s next fight is set for 125 pounds, as he will face Manel Kape at UFC 290 on July 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. ESPN Deportes first reported this matchup. Figueiredo currently ranks at No. 3 in the flyweight category in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, with Kape following closely behind at No. 11.
This fight will be Figueiredo’s first after a series of battles with Brandon Moreno, which had been ongoing since November 2020. Their epic flyweight championship tetralogy ended in a 1-1-1 stalemate, with Moreno finally taking the victory by stopping Figueiredo via doctor stoppage TKO at UFC 283 in January. Meanwhile, Kape is looking to get back on track for a title shot, as three of his past four bookings have been canceled. The former RIZIN champion was scheduled to fight Alex Perez in March, but the matchup fell through due to Perez’s medical issues. Kape has managed to win three straight fights since his 0-2 start in the UFC.
The Figueiredo vs. Kape fight is a great addition to the already action-packed UFC 290 card. The event will also feature other exciting matchups, including Alexander Volkanovski vs. Yair Rodriguez, Brandon Moreno vs. Alexandre Pantoja, and Bo Nickal vs. Tresean Gore, with the bout order yet to be determined.
