Dominick Reyes Withdraws, Alonzo Menifield to Fight Carlos Ulberg at UFC Atlantic City

Dominick Reyes has withdrawn from his scheduled return at the UFC Atlantic City card due to undisclosed reasons, and Alonzo Menifield will replace him to face Carlos Ulberg on March 30.

Dominick Reyes, the two-time UFC title contender, is out. Yep, he’s been forced to pull out of his comeback fight at the upcoming UFC Atlantic City card. Who’s stepping in, you ask? It’s Alonzo Menifield. He’s now slated to face off against Carlos Ulberg. This is all happening at the UFC’s return to New Jersey on March 30.

The UFC folks made this announcement on Tuesday. But, they didn’t spill the beans on why Reyes had to bow out. Reyes was supposed to make his return at UFC 297. Ulberg, however, got injured, and the fight was pushed back to March.

Now, it’s Reyes who can’t compete. The reason? It’s a mystery.

Menifield, on the other hand, is ready to rumble. The 36-year-old Contender Series veteran is on a roll. He’s unbeaten in his last five fights, which is his best streak since joining the UFC in 2018. During this streak, he’s bagged wins against Dustin Jacoby, Jimmy Crute, and Misha Cirkunov. His overall record now stands at a solid 15-3-1.

Menifield is looking to keep the ball rolling against Ulberg. And Ulberg? He’s been doing pretty well himself, with five consecutive wins in the light heavyweight category.

Remember Jung Da-un? Ulberg took him down with a rear-naked choke submission at UFC 293.

The Menifield vs. Ulberg fight is just one of the exciting matchups heading to Atlantic City. The main event? It’s a five-round showdown between welterweights Vicente Luque and Sean Brady.
