Donald Cerrone is planning a return to the UFC for two more fights after re-entering the anti-doping testing pool, despite UFC CEO Dana White’s disapproval and concerns for Cerrone’s well-being.
Donald Cerrone is dead set on making a UFC comeback for two more fights. Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), the UFC’s anti-doping body, confirmed he’s back in the testing pool. Exciting stuff, right? "Cowboy" spilled the beans on The Pacman Jones Show.
"I just re-entered the testing pool," Cerrone shared. "Gotta be six months clean. Probably June or July we’ll make the comeback." Bold move! He emphasized, "I’m coming back for two more. Just two more. I want 50 fights under the UFC umbrella."
He made a promise to his wife—no matter what happens, just two more fights and that’s it. A man of his word. And guess what? He’s eyeing middleweight for this return.
Back in October, Cerrone expressed his desire to reach that round number: 50 total fights. His career hit pause in July 2022 after a string of six losses, the last one being a second-round guillotine choke by Jim Miller. Ouch! It’s been nearly five years since he last tasted victory—remember that decision win against Al Iaquinta at UFC on ESPN+ 9 in May 2019?
UFC CEO Dana White isn’t thrilled about Cerrone’s plan. "I hate it. I hate it," White admitted. Despite his love for Cerrone, he thinks it’s time for him to look ahead, not back.
"Cerrone shouldn’t think about fighting again," White insisted. "He needs to focus on what’s next." A bit harsh? Maybe, but he means well. "We love Cerrone. We’ll help in any way we can. I don’t want to see him get punched in the face anymore."
