Donn Davis is optimistic that Aaron Pico will continue with the PFL, despite his current free-agent status and interest from the UFC, as the PFL has offered him a significant contract and a championship fight opportunity.
Donn Davis is pretty optimistic about Aaron Pico sticking with the PFL for a while.
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Pico’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, spilled some beans. Apparently, Pico’s contract with the PFL has run its course, making him a free agent. Abdelaziz thinks the UFC might want him, but PFL’s not letting go easily—they’ve got matching rights if the UFC makes a move.
Rumors are swirling, yet Davis kept it short and sweet on Twitter. He mentioned they’ve put a hefty offer on the table, plus a championship fight promise.
“2025 hopefully brings less MMA noise and disinformation,” Davis tweeted. “[PFL] has offered Pico title fight and major new contract … We love Aaron and look forward to him having big fights at PFL for the long term.”
Abdelaziz also noted that Pico was supposed to face Patricio Pitbull for the Bellator featherweight title in a co-promotion with RIZIN this month. But, alas, the event got canned, along with the fight and contract.
Pitbull hasn’t been shy about his gripes with PFL since they merged with Bellator in November 2023. He’s itching to be more active and has asked for his release more than once.
