Rapper Drake has placed a $600,000 bet on Francis Ngannou to win his upcoming boxing match against Anthony Joshua, a wager that could net him $1.9 million if Ngannou pulls off the upset.
Drake’s got a knack for putting his cash where his chatter is. This famous rapper’s been known to drop some serious dough on boxing and MMA fights over the years.
This weekend, he’s at it again. The stage? A 10-round boxing match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The players? Ngannou and Anthony Joshua.
The stakes? The winner might get a shot at the undisputed heavyweight title. Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are currently duking it out for that honor.
Drake’s betting on Ngannou, aka “The Predator,” to pull off an upset. He’s so confident, in fact, he’s put $600,000 on the line.
“Betting on scary man,” he says.
Ngannou’s the underdog against former WBC champ Joshua. If he pulls off a win, Drake’s looking at a cool $1.9 million payday.
Drake’s been a big fan of combat sports betting for a while now. He’s made some hefty bets in the past, like $500,000 on Jon Jones to finish Ciryl Gane. He also bet the same amount on Israel Adesanya to knock out Sean Strickland. And then, he put $700,000 on Strickland to defend against Dricus du Plessis.
But, there’s a catch. Some folks talk about a “Drake Curse.” He’s lost a few big bets, including ones on Conor McGregor, Jorge Masvidal, and Justin Gaethje. So, will his luck change this time? We’ll just have to wait and see.
