Dustin Poirier envisions UFC 300 involvement as ‘awesome résumé booster’

Dustin Poirier is aiming to fight at UFC 300 in 2024 in order to add a different highlight to his résumé, but he is seeking the right opponent and a fight that will guarantee him a title fight or a big matchup.

Dustin Poirier has accomplished a great deal in his MMA career, but there’s one thing missing from his résumé that he hopes to change in 2024. He has yet to take part in one of the UFC’s historic cards, like UFC 100, and he sees UFC 300 as the perfect opportunity to do so. Poirier expressed his enthusiasm for the idea, stating, “300 would be awesome to have on the résumé.”

In order to make his dream a reality, Poirier has discussed the possibility with the UFC and they seem to be on the same page. However, finding the right opponent is key. Poirier is looking for a fight that guarantees him a title fight or a really big fight, something that excites him. With most well-known fighters in the lightweight division already booked, he admits that he’s not entirely sure who fits the bill, but he’s confident that the right match will eventually emerge.

Despite the potential challenge of finding an opponent in the lightweight division, Poirier has rejected the idea of moving to welterweight, stating that he is too small for that weight class. He has also ruled out dropping back down to featherweight, expressing a desire to feel good and enjoy the process of fighting. Poirier is putting his trust in the UFC and remains optimistic that they can work together to make his goal of fighting at UFC 300 a reality.

UFC 300 is expected to take place next April in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and Poirier is hopeful that by then, a suitable opponent will have emerged for him to make his mark on this historic event.
