Maycee Barber is set to face Erin Blanchfield in her first UFC main event at UFC Vegas 106 on May 31, following a six-fight win streak and a 14-month hiatus.
Maycee Barber’s got her shot at a UFC main event. Finally.
On Tuesday, the promotion revealed Barber will clash with Erin Blanchfield in the spotlight of UFC Vegas 106. Mark your calendars for May 31 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Exciting stuff!
Now, Blanchfield had quite a year in 2024. She faced her first promotional defeat against Manon Fiorot at UFC Atlantic City, not too long ago. “Cold Blooded” bounced back in November at UFC Edmonton, scoring a unanimous decision win over Rose Namajunas, the former strawweight champ. Currently, she’s No. 4 in MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings for flyweights, boasting a 7-1 record in her UFC journey.
As for Barber, she’s stepping back into the octagon after a 14-month hiatus. She’s riding high on a six-fight win streak! Her last victory? A decision win over Katlyn Cerminara at UFC 299, plus a stoppage against Amanda Ribas at UFC Jacksonville. Ranked No. 7 among flyweights by MMA Fighting, Barber was supposed to headline UFC Denver against Namajunas last July but had to pull out. Bummer.
